Granite vs stone look

One is rock and the other is fired clay, and honestly they solve different problems. Porcelain stone-look is a ceramic body printed and fired: effectively impervious, untouched by acid or UV, and made in large thin panels a stone slab could never be — which is why it turns up on walls, cabinet faces and outdoor kitchens where granite's weight and thickness rule it out. What it does not do is depth. Granite's pattern runs through the block; a porcelain panel's pattern is a print, and unless it is a through-body panel that print stops at the surface, which shows at a mitered edge or a sink cut-out. Granite also takes an impact better — porcelain is hard but brittle, and a dropped pan is likelier to chip a panel than a slab. Ask whether a panel is through-body before specifying it anywhere the edge will be seen.
