Basalt moves in small lots and the range skews black and gray, so a scope needing a continuous field — island and perimeter, or a floor of any size — has to be reserved in full while matching material lasts. It reads as an even, fine-grained field rather than a pattern, which makes tone unforgiving: a warm black and a blue-black mismatch visibly at every joint, where granite’s movement would absorb the difference.
