Ceramic is specified, not selected. Nothing in the family is picked piece by piece the way a slab is; the commitment is to a range and a format. Before ordering, confirm the range carries the trim the detail needs — edge, cove, base and corner pieces — and that the approved face exists in every format the layout calls for. A range that loses its trim mid-project strands the job at the finish: field tile fine, no way to turn a corner. Judge a glaze from a spread of pieces, at the angle it will be seen.

Installed cost is dominated by prep and labor, not the tile, so moving up a range changes the total less than expected. In this market ceramic is over-specified on floors, chosen to hold a budget line rather than to suit the position, and under-specified on the large vertical fields where the saving actually reaches the finished cost. Commit early to any range a scheme leans on, and buy the attic stock up front rather than trusting it to still exist.
